One of the first horror films of 2025 truly worth your time has officially arrived.
We Bury the Dead, the grim and emotionally punishing survival horror from writer-director Zak Hilditch, is now available on digital platforms, including Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and Prime Video. To mark the release, two new excruciating GIFs have dropped—small but effective reminders of just how relentless this film is willing to be.
Starring Daisy Ridley, Mark Coles Smith, and Matt Whelan, We Bury the Dead takes place in the aftermath of a catastrophic military disaster. The dead don’t simply rise—they hunt.
Authorities insist the undead are harmless, slow-moving, and manageable, offering grieving families a fragile sense of hope. But when Ava (Ridley) enters a restricted quarantine zone in search of her missing husband, she begins to uncover the truth: the situation is rapidly evolving, the threat is escalating, and the official story is dangerously false. With every passing hour, the undead become more violent, more adaptive, and far more difficult to survive.
Hilditch’s film isn’t interested in fast-food apocalypse thrills. Instead, it leans hard into despair, uncertainty, and the psychological toll of living inside a lie. It’s a slow, crushing descent into a world where grief becomes a liability and survival demands brutal clarity.
The film is produced by Kelvin Munro, Grant Sputore, Ross M. Dinerstein, Joshua Harris, and Mark Fasano, and features additional performances from Brenton Thwaites.
If you’re looking for a horror film that treats its apocalypse seriously—one that understands fear isn’t just about monsters, but about misinformation, denial, and false comfort—We Bury the Dead deserves a spot at the top of your watchlist.
The film is now available to rent or buy on digital, and be sure to check out our full review on the site before or after you press play.
