Well Go USA Unveils Trailer for 731, A Harrowing Wartime Drama on Unit 731
There are chapters of history so dark they feel almost unspeakable. Japan’s Imperial Army Unit 731 — infamous for its human experimentation during World War II — remains one of humanity’s most horrifying atrocities. Now, 731 confronts that legacy head-on.
Debuting on Digital April 7 from Well Go USA Entertainment, with a Blu-ray™ and DVD release exclusively through Amazon® on June 2, 731 steps inside the notorious camp to examine cruelty, survival, and moral corrosion from an intimate vantage point.
Written and directed by Zhao Linshan (The Assassins), the wartime historical drama stars Wu Jiang (Dragon, A Touch of Sin), Zhiwen Wang (Battle of the Warriors), Naiwen Li (The Adventure), Qian Sun (Three Weddings), and Ziye Lin (My Blue Summer). The film is a China production that dives into the psychological and physical devastation inflicted within Unit 731’s walls.
Synopsis
Set inside the infamous Japanese Imperial Army Unit 731, prisoners are subjected to gruesome experimentation in the pursuit of bacterial and chemical weapons development. Wang (Wu Jiang), himself imprisoned, is assigned as an interpreter for fellow captives. Through his eyes, the film unfolds as a harrowing portrait of suffering, survival, and the corrosive effects of systematic brutality.
The trailer is an exercise in grim, macabre artistry. Stark imagery, restrained dialogue, and flashes of unspeakable acts create an atmosphere that is less about spectacle and more about psychological weight. This is not exploitation — it’s confrontation. The suffering depicted is meant to unsettle, to disturb, and, at times, to make viewers look away.
Historical horror doesn’t rely on monsters. It reminds us that the capacity for atrocity has always been human.
731 arrives on Digital April 7 via Well Go USA Entertainment, with physical editions landing June 2. Approach with caution — and awareness.
