NEON Hosts New York Premiere for Hokum Ahead of May 1 Theatrical Release
The rollout for Hokum continues as NEON held its New York premiere event on April 29 at Regal Union Square, bringing together cast, filmmakers, and a slate of high-profile guests ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on May 1, 2026.
In attendance were stars Adam Scott, Peter Coonan, Florence Ordesh, and Will O’Connell, alongside writer-director Damian McCarthy. The event also drew a notable list of VIP and influencer guests, including Paul Rudd, Ben Stiller, Nia DaCosta, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Jaeden Martell.
Hokum centers on a novelist, Ohm Bauman (Scott), who retreats to a remote inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, only to become entangled in local legends surrounding a witch said to haunt the property. As visions intensify and a disappearance unfolds, the story pushes into psychological territory, exploring grief, memory, and buried trauma.
The premiere event marks one of the final steps in the film’s marketing push, following trailer releases and early buzz surrounding McCarthy’s approach to atmospheric horror. Known for his focus on slow-building tension and contained settings, the director brings those sensibilities into Hokum, positioning the film as a character-driven psychological thriller with supernatural undertones.
Official images from the premiere, photographed by Kristina Bumphrey for NEON, are now available, offering a closer look at the cast and creative team as the film prepares to open in theaters.
Hokum arrives in theaters nationwide on May 1.

Hey everyone! I noticed this site while browsing late at night, looking into how different UK cities handle waste collection. Leicester caught my attention, so I clicked. While exploring, I ended up on https://affordablewastemanagement.co.uk/commercial-waste-services-leicester/ and liked how the content was structured. It didn’t feel cluttered, and I could quickly understand the main points without digging too deep.
