Collider reports that Amazon MGM Studios has officially greenlit a live-action adaptation of Life Is Strange, the acclaimed narrative-driven video game, for Amazon Prime Video. The project will be led by Charlie Covell, who serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer for the series .
On the Story and Team
The TV series will follow Max Caulfield, a photography student who discovers she can rewind time used to save her childhood best friend Chloe Price. The pair investigate the disappearance of a fellow student, gradually uncovering the darker secrets that haunt their town—forcing them to make a choice that could change everything .
Covell, known for adapting The End of the F*ing World and creating Kaos, is personally invested: “It’s a huge honor to be adapting ‘Life Is Strange’ for Amazon MGM Studios. I am a massive fan of the game,” Covell told Variety .
The series is being produced by Story Kitchen, LuckyChap, and Square Enix, in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios .
Why It Matters
Life Is Strange has long been praised for its storytelling, emotional depth, and the difficult choices it presents players. Translated to television, the challenge will be honoring those elements while creating something that stands on its own.
The game has a passionate fan base, and adaptation attempts in the past never went into production. This time, with an official commitment and a creator who loves the material, the project finally seems off the ground.
