Studiocanal’s Sixth Dimension Developing Horror Game ‘The Headliners’ as a Feature Film

Studiocanal’s Sixth Dimension is expanding its video game adaptation slate with The Headliners, with the genre label developing a feature film based on Kafi Games’ multiplayer horror title.
According to Variety, the project is currently in early development. No director, writer, cast or specific plot details for the adaptation have been announced.
Released for PC in 2025, The Headliners was developed by Lucas Bouyoux and Bruno Grégoire and published by Kafi Games. The game places players in the unlikely role of journalists entering an alien-infested New York City in search of photographs capable of making the front page.
Up to eight players can enter the city together, photographing the destruction, creatures and other evidence they encounter while attempting to avoid becoming part of the story themselves.
The premise combines cooperative survival horror with photography, forcing players to weigh the potential value of getting closer to dangerous situations against the likelihood of being killed or dismembered by the extraterrestrial creatures occupying the city.
According to Variety, The Headliners has sold more than 1.5 million copies as a PC exclusive since its release.
How closely Sixth Dimension’s movie will follow the game’s structure remains unknown. The central concept provides the adaptation with a defined setup — journalists documenting an alien invasion from inside an evacuated New York — but no details have been disclosed regarding characters or how the multiplayer mechanics will translate into a narrative feature.
The project becomes the latest video game property to enter development at Sixth Dimension.
Studiocanal launched the in-house genre label in February 2025 with a focus on horror, science fiction, fantasy and thriller projects. Its slate has included the reboot of Silent Night, Deadly Night and Eli Roth’s Ice Cream Man.
Upcoming Sixth Dimension projects also include Sean Byrne’s horror thriller The Mannequin and an adaptation of Night Signal Entertainment’s horror puzzle game Home Safety Hotline.
The Headliners joins a growing number of video game properties being developed for film as studios continue investing in adaptations of established gaming IP. Recent and developing projects across Hollywood have ranged from major franchises to smaller horror titles, with the genre becoming an increasingly active source of material for film and television.
For The Headliners, the existing game already provides a premise built around horror filmmaking fundamentals: a largely abandoned city, an extraterrestrial threat and a group of people deliberately moving toward danger because documenting what they find is their job.
Sixth Dimension’s The Headliners feature remains in early development, with casting, filmmakers and release plans yet to be announced.
