New Hokum Poster Reveals Adam Scott Trapped in Damian McCarthy’s Upcoming Horror Film
A new look has arrived for one of the more intriguing horror titles heading into the spring.
Neon has unveiled an updated teaser poster for Hokum, the latest film from Damian McCarthy, the director behind the eerie breakout horror film Caveat.
The new artwork offers a more unsettling glimpse into the world of the film, showing Adam Scott seemingly trapped somewhere deep below ground. Beneath him, the image hints at a strange mechanical contraption emerging from under a house, suggesting that whatever horrors await in Hokum may lie hidden far below the surface.
The film follows novelist Oham Baum (Scott), who retreats to a remote inn to scatter the ashes of his parents. What begins as a quiet moment of grief quickly turns into something far darker when Baum becomes consumed by unsettling local stories about a witch said to haunt the inn’s honeymoon suite.
As disturbing visions begin to plague him, the mysterious disappearance of someone close to the case forces Baum to confront buried secrets tied to both the location and his own past.
The new poster continues the slow rollout of imagery surrounding the film as anticipation builds ahead of its upcoming festival debut.
Hokum is expected to generate significant buzz when it premieres at the SXSW Film Festival, where audiences will get their first real look at McCarthy’s latest entry into the psychological horror space.
Fans won’t have to wait long for a deeper look at the film either. The official trailer for Hokum is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, giving viewers their first full glimpse of what McCarthy has in store.
Following its festival debut, Hokum will open in theaters May 1.
For now, the latest poster raises more questions than it answers—but if McCarthy’s previous work is any indication, the answers may be far more unsettling than anyone expects.
