The annual OFCS honors, voted on by nearly 300 critics worldwide representing outlets such as Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Sight & Sound and Slant, recognized a wide cross-section of global cinema. Following Sinners, the most nominated titles include One Battle After Another (13), Marty Supreme (9) and Sentimental Value (8). Frankenstein and Hamnet each landed seven nominations.
With 16 total mentions, Sinners—directed by Ryan Coogler—showed strength in nearly every category it was eligible for, underscoring broad support from critics for both its artistry and technical execution. The film appears in Best Picture, Director, Acting, Screenplay, and multiple below-the-line races.
This year’s slate spans more than 38 films across 22 categories, balancing studio releases and independent titles from around the world. The society also introduced four new categories for 2025: Best Ensemble & Casting, Best Makeup & Hairstyling, Best Sound Design, and Best Choreography (Dance & Stunt), expanding recognition for collaborative and technical achievements.
Among notable acting races, Michael B. Jordan earned a Best Actor nomination for Sinners, while Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku picked up supporting nods for the same film. In the Best Picture lineup, Sinners competes alongside Hamnet, One Battle After Another, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value and several international standouts.
Founded in 1997, the Online Film Critics Society approaches cinema from historical, sociological, political and technical perspectives, celebrating film as both art and entertainment.
