Trailer: The Leaching Brings Undead Horrors and a Giant Monster to Digital This July
A new creature feature is slithering onto digital platforms this summer.
Dark Star Pictures and Uncork’d Entertainment have released the official trailer for The Leaching, a supernatural horror film that blends creature-feature thrills, psychological horror, and family-driven mystery. Written and directed by Evan Showalter (Ante Mortem, Bad Music Terry), the film arrives On Digital and On Demand on July 7.
The newly released trailer introduces audiences to Vivian, a young woman who awakens inside a grave on her father’s remote forest property with no memory of who she is or how she got there. As she struggles to piece together the truth behind her identity, she finds herself hunted by a terrifying collection of threats, including the undead, a monstrous giant leech, and a father who may be hiding dark secrets of his own.
According to the official synopsis, Vivian’s search for answers leads her deeper into a supernatural conspiracy tied to her family and the isolated property she finds herself trapped within. With each new discovery, the line between reality and nightmare becomes increasingly blurred.
The trailer leans heavily into atmosphere, showcasing dense forests, unsettling imagery, undead apparitions, and glimpses of the film’s massive leech creature. While creature features often focus on spectacle, The Leaching appears equally interested in exploring themes of memory, identity, faith, and familial trust.
Showalter describes the film as more than a traditional monster movie.
“The Leaching is an exploration of faith, the loss of self, and the monsters (literally) that emerge when people surrender themselves to something greater than they can understand,” said Showalter. “It’s an isolating horror film that plays with a very uncomfortable question: Can you trust your family?”
That central question appears to drive much of the film’s tension as Vivian attempts to determine whether the people around her are trying to help her or manipulate her.
Combining supernatural horror, psychological suspense, and creature-feature elements, The Leaching looks poised to offer genre fans a mix of mystery, monster mayhem, and slow-burning dread when it arrives next month.
The Leaching premieres On Digital and On Demand July 7 from Dark Star Pictures and Uncork’d Entertainment.
