New Trailer and Poster Released for Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma

The official trailer and poster have arrived for Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, the latest feature from writer and director Jane Schoenbrun. The film is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on August 7.

The upcoming slasher stars Hannah Einbinder, Gillian Anderson, Jack Haven, Eva Victor, and Sarah Sherman alongside Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, Zach Cherry, Patrick Fischler, Dylan Baker, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Quintessa Swindell, and Kevin McDonald.

The official synopsis reads:

“After years of slapdash sequels and waning fandom, the Camp Miasma slasher franchise is handed over to an enthusiastic young director for resurrection. But when she visits the original’s star, a now-reclusive actress shrouded in mystery, the two women fall into a blood-soaked world of desire, fear, and delirium.”

The trailer leans heavily into surreal horror imagery, stylized lighting, fragmented editing, and psychological unease while expanding on the meta slasher framework teased in earlier festival coverage. The footage suggests a film deeply rooted in identity, obsession, fandom culture, and body horror aesthetics while continuing the dreamlike pacing and emotional tension associated with Schoenbrun’s previous work.

Schoenbrun previously directed I Saw the TV Glow, We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, and the experimental documentary A Self-Induced Hallucination. Their work has become closely associated with surreal coming-of-age horror and emotionally disorienting storytelling that blends internet culture, memory, and identity exploration with genre filmmaking.

The production also features music by Alex G, cinematography by Eric K. Yue, editing by Graham Mason, and production from Plan B’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner. Executive producers include Brad Pitt.

Outside the film, Schoenbrun is also preparing their first novel, Public Access Afterworld, set for release in 2026, while simultaneously developing an adaptation of Charles Burns’ Black Hole for Netflix alongside Plan B and New Regency.

Judging from the trailer alone, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma appears positioned to continue Schoenbrun’s growing reputation for highly stylized horror storytelling that blends emotional vulnerability, surreal imagery, and genre experimentation into something uniquely their own.
